Okay, I only voted twice....
Tue, 25 Nov 2003, 07:29 pmOkay, either someone voted 60 times, or there are a lot of people excited about the upcoming production of COMPANY at the Garrick Theatre, but I swear I did NOT vote more than twice. At last count Company was the favourite show by nearly 45 votes!
Does this mean I can expect to see heaps of people at the auditions this Saturday? 11am? At the Garrick Theatre? Meadow Street Guildford?
Anyone?

Re: Two's Company
Tue, 25 Nov 2003, 10:24 pmYes, it'd be nice if there was a way to establish the legitimacy of the polls when they do a freakish about turn like this, or whether we have a couple of clowns trying to make the same point multiple times. (like the voting systems of the Logies, or Australian Idol...)
After the first few days (I've noticed that generally, when a new poll goes up, it'll get about 100 votes in the first three days...which generally indicates the trends. Staying up a week or longer means more people get to have an opinion, but the rate of new votes drops away considerably; also more votes could mean either greater OR lesser accuracy, depending on if anybody's donkey is voting.
Into The Woods was a favourite on the poll for quite a while. Company has now well and truly taken over. Those two happen to be the only Sondheim shows I've seen. I saw Into the Woods at WAAPA last year and absolutely loved it...but perhaps more for the story, because even though the lyrics and music impressed me, if you asked me to sing a number, I couldn't.
I saw Company at the Playhouse in about 1988...and although I only have vague recollections of it, there are at least three or four phrases that I remember, having never heard it since. To me, that's an indication of a good musical.
Time for a new poll, I think
