Comedy Tonight: A Cabaret!
Thu, 30 Jan 2003, 11:34 amIntroducing Stage Right!
Kim and Andy Edwards have started a little fledgling Victorian theatre company, and if anyone has ever owed us any favours, we’re asking you to make good on them now! It’s not a big request! – only that you come along and give us some support for our debut performance which takes place on February 28th at 8:00, at the Yarra Valley Vineyard Christian Fellowship, 60 Cavehill Road, Lilydale. What we’re presenting is a cabaret show entitled “Comedy Tonight”: a showcase of all your favourite musical comedy numbers presented by the combined talents of Tim Cant straight from the lead in CLOC’s My One and Only, nationally renowned tenor Matthew Davine, Sally McKenzie performing between her award-nominated work in Windmill’s JC and her current musical direction of The Wiz, and Kathryn Turner appearing before beginning her role as the Mother Superior in Whitehorse’s Sound of Music, in company with Andy and I! It really is going to be a sensational night of theatre!
The point in beginning the company was to give some great performers a wider arena to exhibit their talents as soloists – auditions and eisteddfods shouldn’t be the only chances we have to display our abilities! Future projects being considered are “A Night at the Opera” for those more classically inclined, a evening of Shakespeare for those with a passion for the Bard, some small plays, and naturally more musical theatre cabarets! Hopefully there’s something there to which your own tastes adhere, and for which you’d like to audition! – I hope you’ll come and be involved in our future endeavours, and will come now to this first venture in order to ensure there are future ones!
Tickets are only $15 for adults and $10 for concessions for groups of ten or more (which is cheaper than a movie!), and can be booked by calling 97535365.
Look forward to seeing you there!
