Mozart & Salieri
Thu, 7 Nov 2002, 12:20 amDid Antonio Salieri murder Wolfgang Mozart? Or was the Italian composerÂ’s death-bed confession merely a final, desperate attempt to achieve an immortality that his music could not?
This powerful and compelling mystery has fascinated storytellers for over a century.
Opera West now presents the two earliest versions of this compelling and controversial story - Rimsky-KorsakovÂ’s opera, and PushkinÂ’s play.
Performed as a double-bill, Mozart & Salieri will feature actors Mark Blades and Kingsley Judd (alternating nightly in the title roles of the play), singers Michael Heap and Paul Whiteley, pianist Patricia Walmsley, and actor/violinist Amanda Chesterton.
Directed by David Meadows, at the Blue Room Theatre
November 20-30 @ 8:00pm
$18 / $12 (blue room members $15 / $10)
