Joseph And The Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat
Thu, 5 Sept 2002, 12:34 pmI love Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat. It strikes me that it hasnÂ’t been performed in Australia for a while. I live in Perth and I would love to be involved in a production of it. Does anyone know when and where it was last performed in Oz or if anyone is planning on staging a production in the near future? Failing that, does anyone love it too? Perhaps a dedicated bunch of people can work on getting in performed in Perth? Please let me know your views! Thank you!

Hi Lucy,
I know that Joseph was performed at the Quarry Amphitheatre quite a few years ago. I can't remember the year but I'm pretty sure that the company was Musicmakers Unlimited (now Prompt Corner). There have probably been numerous school productions since then but no amateur companies have performed it since MMU to the best of my knowledge. Good luck!
Cheers,
Gill

Re: Joseph And The Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat
Hello Lucy
The most accurate way of finding out when Joseph was last done may be to ask the agency that owns the rights.
I did a search using ANZWERS on "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat Production" and a string of results told me it was first performed in Sydney in 1975. A search of this site using the text search function found that Amanda said it was written for amateurs.
Not all companies would put the details on the wen but it is an easy starting point.
There are several new venues such as The Kwinana Amphitheatre and the Bridge that offer reasonable rates as well as the numerous school theatres that could fit into an amateur budget, to reduce your financial risks.
Hope others join you as musicals are enjoyable to a lot of people dut to Disney's films.
Regards
Don
