Hi everybody,
Just letting you know that in the paper on Sunday there was an article about Disney's `the Lion King' being staged in Sydney. They are holding open auditions for anyone 16+ on Sunday 23rd June...at WAPPA from 9am to 11am.
Not sure on the full details but I'm sure there is some way of finding out.
Goodluck!!

Re: Lion King!!

Register between 9am-11am at WAAPA. They'll give you a call time when you register. Make sure you bring your sheet music, and you have to perform a rock/contemporary song.

Saw a friend's programme when he saw it in London - fucking awesome looking show.

Good luck.

Crispian.

Re: Lion King!!

To Dear Whom this may concern,

My Name is Jade, Im 20 years old, part time student and a full time apprentice for a Engineering Companie located in North Sydney.
I have 6 years Dance Experience in Jazz, Ballet and Tap, have done dancing, and aerobics professionally for School and have 7 years exp in Self defence.
When I found out about these auditions I thought it would be a great opportunity to participate in something I trully love to do.
I understand if I don't have enough experience or am not what you are looking for but I thought there is no harm in trying.
My dancing exp is not from a really professional Dance Academy but with determination and a passion to try my best, hopefully I could make you see whats inside of me.

Thankyou so much for listening
Miss Jade Cameron

You guys possibly know this if you continued reading after you posted your responses to the initial post...

The computer assigned the date to the posting...it's always correct. You're now 86 weeks late for the Perth section of the national auditions. I had a call back in Sydney in September 2002, and then again in January 2003, but heard no more after that. (At the last audition, I met a guy who was on his NINTH call back..!)

It only opened in Sydney last October. It'll be a long running show, and while they probably have understudies and a short-list of people who might be next in line, sometime down the track they're going to need to replace dancers and cast members who leave the show. Get your agent to keep an ear out for possible openings.

Re: Lion King was over a year and a half ago!!

They're actually in the middle of holding another set of auditions for people to join the show in August. Auditions have been and gone in some cities, but there's still a chance for others. Info's at the site.
