Sheerluck Holmes is the next offering from the Murray Music & Drama Club, and this comical spoof on England’s greatest detective is a very entertaining family show. Directed by Carole Dhu, and with vocal direction from Merle Brown, a talented cast have made the most of the humorous material, and the show has developed into a real hoot. During a night at the theatre Holmes and Watson set out to capture Jack the Ripper, at the same time becoming embroiled in a mysterious case involving a young heiress, a mysterious group of Chinese laundry workers and a bunch of dangerous pirates. There are literally dozens of murders throughout the show, the body count grows at a hilarious pace, as no-one seems to know who-dunnit! From the streets of London to the gloomy mansion on the Yorkshire Moors the fun never lets up, and despite being a musical, the show also pokes fun at the genre of murder mystery plays. The script doesn’t take itself too seriously, which allows the cast to develop the humour and ham it up to great effect. Seats are just $20 each and can be obtained from the Pinjarra Pharmacy or Music Force in Mandurah. The season runs for three weekends commencing May 10th, with two matinees and six evening shows.
