Try this
Hi There Shan,
Try http://www.australianmusicals.com/library.htm great list there...just make sure that they are 'Australian' musicals and not overseas musicals that have been performed in Australia.
Musicals are traditionally very long and take a lot of time, skill and crew to put on...why not try something by Michael Olsen. I'd give you more...but I dont want to do your homework for you ;)
His scripts are Australian, Modern, One Act, and I believe they require alot of skill and talent to pull of effectively. Probably what youre looking for.
Have Fun!

Australian Musicals
Meant To Be is a great Australian musical that has been performed in Australia and in New Zealand. It might be too big for a class project, but you might like to check it out anyway.

Also have a look for
Also have a look for Anthony Crowley's work- he is always writing new stuff.
A Bunch of Ratbags-Peter Pinne and have a look at Oz Made Musicals, it's a concert held ever year showcasing new Australian Musicals.
Andrew Patterson and Craig Cristie have written some really decent shows as well

There is a "musical play" called Captain Starlight based on the novel Robbery Under Arms. The music is by Ian McKinley and the libretto by Paul Sherman.

Aussie Musicals
My Theatre Studies recently performed "Class of 77" by David Hines.
Act One is set in the year 1977, and follows a year twelve class through the year, including their preparations for the Grad Ball.
Act Two fast-tracks to 1992, and we catch up with the students fifteen years later, at their high school reunion, and we see the changes in each of them.

You can watch videos of the World Premiere, and a not-so-good version of the longest song ever written (basically), Fifteen Years.
If you go to the "Productions" page, you can see photos and cast/crew lists from previous productions. Take special note of the Warragul Regional College production.
