AUDITIONS!!!!!

I'm 17 and desperate to find some quality shows to audition for. The only ones that seem to be of any interest to me are 18+ shows and I'm sick to death of Pantomimes. Does ANYBODY know of any GOOD theatre companies putting o productions that I could audition for in the next 12 months? Plays or Musicals preferably in the Eastern Suburbs, anything would be nice!!! I live in the Eastern suburbs of Melb. You won't find much in our area. There's Whitehorse of course, but basically if you want to do anything, you'll have to head closer in to the city. Just ametuer, I've been driving to Berwick for the past year for small roles in pretty dodgy(sp) shows. I just want to get some experience from somewhere other than school.

For amateur stuff, especially musicals, you're limited really. There's Camberwell Theatre Co., who generally do plays. There's... hmm, I've forgotten their name but they're in Camberwell... Just look at the companies here: http://www.theatre.asn.au/views/companies/10+38+324+325+326+327+328+329+330+331+332+333+334+335 Unfortunately, in my experience, many companies in our area are slightly dodgy. (I'm sure I'll get into trouble for posting that, but my experience is just that) If you want to get more experience outside of school, why not audition for a fringe show? At 17, you'll be performing with a lot of similarly aged people, and there's heaps around to get involved in. Additionally, you can always just avoid joining a group, and create your own. Dodgy? In Melbourne's east? There are so many great non-pro companies in your area! Yes Whitehorse is great but I'm sure the people at CLOC wouldn't like to be regarded as dodgy. I live in Melbourne's west and there are only a couple of companies where we are. My daughter has been travelling across town for the past 4 years to do shows. There's the two mentioned plus Babirra, NOVA, Devanesan, Players, Windmill, Dandenong,MUMCO, PLOS, MLOC, MDMS, SLAMS, the newly formed Melbourne Musicals....my gosh the list goes on. Hi Guys, I'm 21 and have recently thought about giving acting ago :) i know its a bit lat in life to be thinking this but.... gotta start some where... :) does anyone know of a good ametuer theater that i could audition for. or know whats the best way to get into acting? thanks
