My two cents on this site -

My two cents on this site - it's an American one, which isn't necessarily bad, it just means most of its info will be aimed at an American audience, and not much for Aussies. In fact, from a quick browse, I could see nothing of interest for specific Australian information. Their contact info is on the privacy page, where it is quite clear that the site is run by Ning.com - a website which allows you to create your own social network. It's also likely that because of the nature of the 'space' thing, it would end up more like a dating/social site, than an informative theatre site. Here's some info on who set it up: http://broadwayspace.com/content/about.html BetteTina, the person who submitted the link to this site logged in once, and did nothing else but post this link. A google search reveals nothing but a lot of posts on other sites promoting the 'space'. All of which appear to be spam posts in order to encourage members. Conclusion: not a dodgy site, but don't expect to get work from it, or get anything of use about the Australian industry. It's just a place to meet other theatre people - American ones - and chat about things. Considering anyone and everyone can make a similar site (and has about 10% the number of members as this site - 1501 to our 10515), I say why bother? Eh - seems to be all I do

Eh - seems to be all I do lately. Actually, it's because I work for a new 'social network' website, so I'm pretty familiar with the territory; as well as the growing use of these websites for spam and pyramid schemes. (I got an email today from someone asking me to visit their site. After a couple of failed tries I googled it, and it turns out that the person earns money for the number of people they get to visit or join this 'social network'. Pyramid scheme ahoy!) And like I said, anyone can make one of these sites, which makes them particularly targeted towards the young and naive. It's always good to research these sites, because they can pose a threat, while looking harmless. American Sites

Hi all. My first post! I do not know about this site but I have checked out another American site classicalsinger.com which is mainly aimed at opera. I had the same sort of experience as Na did, it was a lot of Americans (who were very familiar to each other) talking about American opera, which I could not relate to! I have decided to stick with the Aussies!!
