There is also a news item up on the Aussie Theatre site (http://www.aussietheatre.com/) about wicked coming to australia, with the rumour that Helen Dallimore will be 'precast' as Glinda. Enjoy

Wicked

Just seen this show in the West End,loved it. But Helen Dallimore as Galinda/Glinda was the weak link vocally, I'm sure I'm not going to be popular saying that....however, it's true. But production values AMAZING and all other casting incredibly strong.
Erin CSat, 28 Apr 2007, 08:20 am

thx

oooo thanks...i'll be telling the person who told me...tell-tale! lol

I just saw Wicked on Friday

I just saw Wicked on Friday in London. Let me just say that it was just fantastic. I've been a real nerd of this show for the last couple of years so I was going to love it no matter what. But, I would have to agree with the last poster in regards to Ms Dallimore. But, I would say she was the strong link dramatically. And, I was at Stage Door afterwards getting signatures and all. Side note: all were gorgeous. Chorus hurries out - could be a bit embarrassing for them to ask for signatures but I would gladly take any! The one woman from the Chorus I spoke with said that (after me saying I was from Sydney) said 'Oh yeah, it's coming to you next year. I might come along - always wanted to live there.' Pretty cool!

Edward - Something wicked this way comes

Strange the people you bump into on this site - I remember a fellow called Edward Grey who tried to talk someone into mounting a production of Wicked two years ago ... And now he's in London standing at the stage door. Keep me posted Ed.

Wicked in Australia

i am only 13 but i have wanted to see Wicked for a while i even started thinking about saving up when i get a job and go to london to see it. but now finally i might be able to see it if it comes to australia. although i live in perth i might be able to fly over for a christmas and birthday present and see it. i'll be crossing my fingers.
Walter PlingeSun, 20 May 2007, 05:11 pm

i dont think helen

i dont think helen dallimore has been confirmed yet. my best friend's sister's husband is an agent in london and says there is a rumor that glinda could be stephanie carswell who is also an ozzy actress and rehearsing to play her in the wicked part of a variety show touring the uk till feb so who knows.
Walter PlingeMon, 21 May 2007, 10:02 pm

No idea who she was but

No idea who she was but just googled her and am very impressed. Loads better vocally than Dallimore. She's Australian too. Try www.stephaniecarswell.com . Who is your agent friend?
Walter PlingeMon, 21 May 2007, 11:38 pm

really hope she is. im in

really hope it is!!!!!!!! when i was in london a couple of years ago i saw stephanie carswell in a show at her majestys & the whole cast was crap but she was completly phenomenal. dont know what shes doing now but.
Walter PlingeTue, 22 May 2007, 06:17 pm

Her myspace says she's Glinda

Her myspace says she's Glinda in a Wicked tour or something. I agree with the other poster that I hadn't heard of her but she's pretty good and loads better than Helen but she could be a bit young for the role. What's she done here?
Walter PlingeWed, 23 May 2007, 02:39 am

I don't know either of them

I don't know either of them but the internet movie database says they both were in the Royal Variety Gala in London last year with Idina Menzel and Adam Garcia so it was probably Wicked. Maybe one was Galinda and the other one was an understudy. Or they both did Galinda in different sections. Stephanie Carswell has some Wicked songs on her website and they could be from that. Can't find an official site for Helen Dallimore. Has anyone seen them both? Who's better? Someone answer please! Kx
Walter PlingeFri, 25 May 2007, 05:17 am

yer, i've seen them both

yer, i've seen them both but only helen dallimore as glinda and she was a good actress but not a very good singer i don't think. when i saw stephanie carswell she was really really good, the only one in the cast that didn't suck really, but i agree with the person who said she might be a bt young. i saw her in 2005 as a cat but so maybe she's more grown up now. i really hope it is her!!!! she was so nice to me outside the theatre!!
Erin CFri, 25 May 2007, 05:03 pm

Cat?

what cat did she play can i ask, it doesn't say on her site...
Walter PlingeSat, 26 May 2007, 06:07 pm

re: Cat?

Erin, there were lots of diff shows in the one show, sort of a variety show i guess, so i don't know sorry. she was the black white and orange one who sang all of the first bit of the jellicle cats song in the beginning. her voice was so pure, really nice. she looked about 12 then but it was like over 2 years ago now and she def looked a bit older outside not in costume. i think we need a new thread for her!!!!!
Stacey-Marie JeffersonSat, 26 May 2007, 07:35 pm

new thread

there is now a new thread for stephanie carswell at http://www.theatre.asn.au/musicals_and_opera/stephanie_carswell_as_glinda_in_wicked_melbourne join in peepz!!!!!!!

re: wicked convo

wow haha. well, hi everyone! i have seen the original broadway cast of wicked with kristin and indina - nothing beats the original... and no.. i didn't see it live...hmm. but i am the most obsessed wicked fan.. i got our director of music obsessed with it at school. he goes around whistling all the songs!! - it's just such a great musical. it's not possible to hate it! i can not believe that it is coming to australia! woo! about time haha. but it's annoying that it's gonig to melbourne first.. what about all the other cities? i doubt QPAC has the stage space for a production such as wicked.. but if it's the last thing i do - i will fly to melbourne to see it! i have family down there, so i guess that's a couple less things my parents need to worry about.. you know, accommodation and stuff. but seriously - wicked is just.. the best! words can not do it justice.. kristin and indina forever!!!!!!!
Julian GoncalvesSun, 27 May 2007, 08:02 pm

well

well that just sucks.. WICKED IS COMING TO AUSTRALIA- THAT IS AWESOME! i'm heading to Melbourne in July this year... that sucks, i should of just waited till next year *sigh* ahwell....sucks how perth doesnt have any big enough venues...
Walter PlingeSun, 27 May 2007, 09:29 pm

wicked aust

yeah i agree with everyone. ive seen wicked on broadway 6 times now and i saw it in london in january, but i haven't seen anyone beat the original cast of idina menzel, kristen chenoweth and norbert leo butz. vocally, helen dallimore was a real let down for the london cast - i really hope she is not cast to play in australia!
Stacey-Marie JeffersonMon, 28 May 2007, 05:52 pm

i agree that helen

i agree that helen dallimore is really weak but there is a rumor that it could be stephanie carswell who i saw in london a few years ago and she is loads better than helen. she is glinda in a uk tour starting at the end of the year and then hopfully coming to melbourne!!!!!!! there is a whole new thread for her at http://www.theatre.asn.au/musicals_and_opera/stephanie_carswell_as_glinda_in_wicked_melbourne join in peepz!!!! we don't want helen!!!!!!!
Walter PlingeThu, 31 May 2007, 12:07 pm

WICKED WAS AMAZING- i just

WICKED WAS AMAZING- i just saw it in Chicago today! i cant wait till it comes out in australia, ill take my mum and watch it a thousandddddddd times.
Erin CSun, 3 June 2007, 08:33 pm

DITO!

sigh....got that right... biggest state, smallest venues, ironic
Walter PlingeMon, 4 June 2007, 07:01 am

I Heart Wicked

I just saw WICKED in Hollywood at the Pantages Theatre! it was genius! Megan and Eden are right under Idina and Kristen, if not the same level! i was extremely impressed! I can't wait to see it again! Go see it over and over and over again!
Walter PlingeMon, 4 June 2007, 05:27 pm

IDINA MENZEL HAS TO DO

IDINA MENZEL HAS TO DO WICKED IN AUSTRALIA!!!!!!!!!!!! i saw stephanie carswell's myspace and she sung popular and she SUCKED!!!! no offence to any fans but she was sooo terrible!
Erin CTue, 5 June 2007, 07:17 pm

the fact...

the fact that she as said she'll never do wicked again might get in the way of that dream....think about it doing a show on b'way then west end...you can only hang on one charcater for so long... ...but as a fellow Idina fan, i must say it would be nice
Walter PlingeFri, 22 June 2007, 02:44 am

She does it really British

She does it really British which I didn't like at first but it's grown on me now that I've seen it in London and that's how they do it. I don't know why but I expected them to always do it American wherever it was on. Trust me, a cockney Elphaba sounds even weirder! I reckon she sounds a bit OTT too but there used to be a vid on myspace or youtube or somewhere I can't find now and it was of a rehearsal of Popular. It sounds a bit less manic when you're watching her at the same time. I'm so with you for Idina coming back! I LOVE YOU IDINA!!!!!!!!!!!!!
