cats

Hello! I actually know the musical director. I know from they had over 100 audition and knocked back 50 or so, if i remember my figures correctly. I'll definately be going to see it. not sure about budget though sorry. but if you are a cats fan, willoughby theatre company are doing cats also performing around may/june. i know the choreographer and quite a few people in it, and i know it will be a strong show. you could see both and make a comparison.

Rockdale Musical Society's CATS

Hi, I just noticed your post about Rockdale's CATS - I am on the committee there and the show opens on March 23 to March 31. Tickets are selling fast so if you are keen to go I would suggest you book. It was correct that we auditioned over 100 and have a cast of about 30 so the talent is incredible! I was watching them last Wednesday and they sound phenomenal. The choreographer was also in the professional production of the show in Hamburg in 1989 so he has retained a lot of the typical ''cats'' elements while making it their own interpretation. All the costumes have been hand made and painted, the set is amazing and the lighting and effects will be second to none so all in all it's going to look fabulous. If you want more info go to rockdalemusicalsociety.com or for bookings call 9591 3395. Amanda

the downside to amatures doing cats

unfortunately there is a downside to amatures doing cats. i am sure rockdale and miranda will do an excelent job but Aaron Kernigan the director who did Dracula Triumphant at the theatre royal has got the rights to do it in wollongong, god knows what hes going to do to it but there is a chorus of children involved and its being performed in the ehtertainment centre not the performing arts theatre. its also a pity he will be following cats with Les miserables. people may feel after a brilliant production of joseph and his dreamcoat staged by another company it may be safe to go back into the theatre. Alas no. does anyone know a good hitman?

Rockdale Cats

Well, the shows been running since last Friday, and I've seen it twice so far: it keeps getting better :) The interaction between cast members (and sometimes audience members!) is really natural, and their performances are really honed to a professional and entertaining standard. I was fortunate enough to see some of the auditions and rehearsals and have seen what the show has become :) I really recommend seeing it! Well done Rockdale Musical Society *claps*

Rockdale cats - Thanks

Thanks Christian for your encouragment. I play Mr. Mistoffelees in the show and I can tell u the entire cast has had a ball with this show. We love the interaction with the audience too! This has probably been one of the best experiences of my life so it is sad that we only have one weekend left. It must also be said that we have a fantstic production team, stage crew and commitee, which is a big reason why this show has been effective. I look forward to seeing other interpretations of Cats in the future such as Willougbys.

well... to this comment i

well... to this comment i have this for you... i am one of the leads in the show and it looks, sounds and is absolutely amazing... one of the reasons why we are not doing it at the performing arts centre is because in our last production there, we were not accommadated for very well and so it was a group decision to move the show to the entertainment centre... that and the prices at the performing arts centre were rising to astronomical heights and it just wasn't worthit... i must say, i know aaron personally and if you say what you've said about him... then you must be jealous... we had over 500 people audition and cut it back to a total cast and crew of about 160... and just one more thing... in two weeks of tickets being on sale, we have sold over 1500 tickets and they are still selling like hot cakes... so the 1500 people who have bought tickets musn't be too worried about the fabulous work of Aaron Kernaghan... so don't judge a person on previous work... look at CATS in Wollongong and you'll see how fabulous the cast and crew is... especially Aaron Kernaghan...

Cats - Willoughby

Hi hoping someone can help. I saw details about Cats at Bailey Hall Chatswood and now it all seems to have disappeared off the face of the earth. I guess it's sold out? Will it be on somewhere else in Sydney? The Social group I'm in wants to go:)
