Is that your real name? Anyhow, if you're old enough to type that question on this site, you'd have been old enough for more than 2 opportunities in musicals last year. I know this because my daughter was in two - beginning and end of the year - and she's just 9 - she was 8 when she was in The King and I (Mandurah Murray Drama Group) and 9 when she was in Joseph and his Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat (Rockingham Theatre Group).
I don't know obviously but my hunch is you're referring to musicals put on by MPAC. MPAC isn't the ONLY place that puts on shows in this area :) And yes, if you're young they don't consider you have the experience they look for and so you'll have buckleys of landing something with them until you get some years on you (depending on how old you are now) and much more experience, and so you should be looking further afield to get that experience - which you won't mind doing if you love doing this type of thing but you also need sympathetic parents prepared to drive you back and forth! I think you have to be prepared to travel a bit - there are theatre companies in Rockingham and Kwinana who put on musicals too and Mandurah kids do get roles with them as well - but they don't advertise in our local papers. You might find them listed on this website perhaps?
The Rockingham place is called Rockingham Theatre Company but I can't remember offhand what the Kwinana people call themselves... I'm willing to bet, however, that there are people on this group who will know and may post the phone numbers :)
