Hey everyone, I just wanted to ask if anybody knows when the auditions will be for Phantom of the Opera? I heard it will be performed in July next year with Anthony Warlow playing the Phantom. If anyone knows anything about how the show will be cast or other details it would be very much appreciated if you were able to reply. Thanks a lot! xox

Help! Where to go...

Phantom is my favourite musical! Ditto on any information. I'm hoping to get work as a rehearsal pianist and musician in the orchestra. Can you please tell me where is theatre more lively? Sydney or Melbourne? Should I take my chances in England?

phantom auditions

Hey... if that last comment is true, does that mean there's no chance for the rest of us that have no agent (or are between agents...) to get an audition? I looked everywhere for audition info, but they just kept saying 'in december', so I don't know - but I wanted to know when specifically the Melbourne auditions were, and how to get one?!
christina0565Tue, 21 Nov 2006, 11:48 am

where can we get more info?

I would love to find out more details on phantom auditions...and i mean everything, not just cast, but crew and ensemble selection, rehearsal pianists positions and any other positions which involve this musical happening in sydney or melbourne... where can we find out contact info? any names, phone numbers, email addresses, advertisements, internet sites.... if what people have been saying is true auditions are in november/december...there isnt much time!!!!

Too late

Ladies and gents, if indeed Mr Warlow is in this production (I plead the ignorance of one who has been too busy) my guess is that it is a major professional production. As such, they will not be allowing just anyone interested to audition. They will approach the reputable and well-known agencies, and those agencies will be sorting through their books to find the right people to audition. The only other way it might have happened is if they advertised in the major papers, in which case you would all already know how to audition. Basically- if you don't have an agent or haven't been chased yet, I'm sorry but it won't be happening this time. I don't want to be the grumpy-pants of the thread, but people have to understand that these big pro shows are too expensive and risky to let anyone who 'likes the show' to have a go. As a pro performer I get a little annoyed that so many think it's as easy as liking it and wanting it. Get your runs on the board in smaller shows and do your apprenticeship, then you'll be ready for the next big chance when it comes along! Neville It's the simple things stupid...

phantom

Mr Talbot, I hate to dissapoint you but you are incorrect. Firstly, I do not have an agent. By the time I found out where to sent my CV in, the application date was closed (but they accepted it anyway) and I was granted an audition. I am now hoping for a call back but if I don't get one, well it was great to get the chance to audition. So for all you people out there, GO FOR IT. I have been around a long time in the non professional world and this is the first real professional show I have auditioned for. I wish I had done it earlier and not left it this late in my career. Follow your heart and dreams. Life is too short. You never know what may come of it.

If someone could help me.

Hey, I sent my agency my interest of auditionin for phantom. He had told me the dates but not the time or anything else. I emailed him the day before the 29th to see if he new anything. and all he replyed was he hadnt heard anything as of yet. and still is saying this. I believe he may have just not bother to send my request off. Was hopin someone could tell me if the auditions did go ahead on the 29th of nov. this would be a great help.
Walter PlingeTue, 5 Dec 2006, 10:32 pm

Hey Angelique, Sydney

Hey Angelique, Sydney auditions for Phantom were on 29, 30 Nov and 1 Dec.
Neville TalbotWed, 6 Dec 2006, 03:40 pm

Congrats HH

On your audition and good luck. Hope it all works out for you. No intention to destroy people's dreams and ambitions, just wanting to provide a quick reality check about the work and effort involved in this industry. (HH- I do note though that you appear to have extensive experience, maybe one of the reasons you were granted an audition? See my last sentence in my last posting) I shall now slink off into the corner with my 'invincible intellectual' cloak in tatters... :-) Nev It's the simple things stupid...

Auditions for Phantom

Walter PlingeThu, 7 Dec 2006, 10:05 am

Ok, it's just I didn't

Ok, it's just I didn't attend the first auditions ( I was overseas) and I sent through my cv last night and I was asked to come to the Sydney audition on Monday. I guess I should think myself very lucky. I am auditioning for dance, Im a classical dancer, however I have no singing experience. Will I be expected to sing? Any help greatly appreciated.
Walter PlingeThu, 7 Dec 2006, 10:10 am

Also, I know i May be

Also, I know i May be scolded for even asking this, but can anyone reccomend an easy to sing classical/theatre song I could take with me incase?Im just concerned the dancing won't be enough and they will want singers. I understand musical theatre requires all rounders, but i am solely a classical dancer. Im sure they would have seen on my resume that i had zero singing experience/training, but I would still like to be somewhat prepared - even though i know if I am asked to sing I will just crash and burn!

Christine ain't got no sister...

She is an only child. You may be thinking of Meg Giry, Madame Giry's daughter and member of the corps de ballet. In which case... who's your friend!?!??!
