My son and I, went along to check out Virgin Warrior last night. For the benefit of Walter Plinge, I will confess, that I'm actively involved with the Phoenix Theatre; that said; I've had no involvement whatsoever with this production. My only knowledge upon entering the theatre was that we were about to see a rock opera based upon the life of Joan of Arc. Having now seen the show, I can but confer with Gordon's view, and that like wow man; what a great production. I being my lazy boned self would have run a mile from this project, given the amount of work it required. Not so Jane Sherwood, Paul Olsen, Graeme Johnson and the remainder of cast and crew. To take, dare I say, a mostly ragtag bunch of wannabe singers (no offence intended people), and have them put on a show of this quality speaks volumes for all concerned. Jane and crew, take a well deserved bow, for giving us this fine production. Could I find, anything to be critical of? The sound for me was occasionaly muddy, but that's probably down to my ever fading ear drums or the damned theatre acoustics, but apart from that, all was superb. Kudos to sound and lighting...brilliant work guys. Jane and crew, you've certainly lifted the bar for Phoenix with this one. PS: My son voted it the best show he's ever seen. I of course said, 'that would be apart from dad's shows?' To which he replied, 'No, including yours dad'. DOH! So much did he enjoy it, he wants to go again...enough said. Best wishes to you Virgin Warriors' for the remainder of your season. cheers Johnny Grim
