So I’ve heard you either love or hate Terry Pratchett’s work. After seeing Going Postal, I’m leaning towards the latter. But having left at half time, I can only judge act one. With a long first half, another looming and a freezing theatre, it just wasn’t worth the wait.
Despite how you might feel about Pratchett, the Arts Theatre has done a reasonable job with the play – but it’s nothing to get excited about. Satisfactory performances, half-decent set and an off-beat style gave this odd story some life. There were several mishaps; props falling off the shelves and signs falling down. However, the cast dealt with them well.
The story is fantasy-world meets history lesson. When a criminal is facing the death penalty, he is given a second chance...
