Up for Grabs
Mon, 20 Aug 2007, 11:28 pmI saw this production yesterday at Kwinana Theatre Workshop. I knew nothing about the play, other than that it was written by David Williamson, so I was in for a surprise. If you are easily offended this is probably NOT the play for you - which would be a pity, as it an excellent production. As I have just finished directing The Vagina Monologues however, I felt right at home! Paul Treasure has done a marvellous job of directing what is a rather difficult play. He is to be congratulated, as are all his cast. The set was very simple - almost non-existant - but effective, and worked well. All the cast members gave strong and memorable performances. Kristen Twynam-Perkins was impressive in the lead role as Simone, the woman determined to succeed as an Art Dealer, and willing to do almost anything - and risk everything - to ensure that success. All the other characters were clearly and well portrayed. It was great to see Kimberley Shaw on stage for a change - she does anger very well! Go and see this play if you can, it is worth the extra effort to travel to Kwinana.
