Directed by Kristen Twynam-Perkins and performed up at Roleystone Theatre, "No Names" tells a tale in the 1940s Australian war era, when the Yanks came over and basically took over the place of Aussie men with the women. One groovy set, three acts that fly by, and a cast that gels well, this is a show that I hope sees more lively crowds than the one on Opening Night (sorry about that. We *did* get more rowdy during the mushy scenes....GO SONJA!!!!!!! Woof!!!)

The main action is between Kathy (Sonja Reynolds) and "Rebel" (Scott Smythe), both actors whom were simply brilliant (damn you!!). Backed up by hilarious comic relief (Sam Brown, Nicola Oxley, Jay Hardison), some dopey cops (Garry Cox, Simon Oxley, Peter "Pear" Carr), token bludger (Jason Gamble), and dinkum copper (Paul Treasure), the cast give the deep script a fair 'seeing to', and present the war-time era to us appropriately in costume, setting, accents and props.

A few faults to pick were the occasional slip of accents (No names...=D), forgetting of lines, and volume in both the actors and taped sound (although the toilet was groovy). Then again, I was in the back row.

All I'm really saying is that if you want to see good drama, good comedy, good script, good cast, and a hint of romance, haul your arse up to Roleystone for "No Names...No Pack Drill", it's well worth the trip!!!!

Dates : Er...go find 'em yourself.
