Sydney Auditions
Fri, 24 Sept 1999, 10:19 pmThanks for those links, Joe.The atheatre.com.au is a bit of a disappointment, as far as i can tell the site has not been updated for more than a year! Perhaps it's an apt warning against attempting to build a web based commercial enterprise when there's so much information freely available for anyone able to type a query in a search engine?Rebecca may like to check out the Association of Community Theatre (NSW) website. They have listings for some auditions in the Sydney area.http://welcome.to/showlineHowever, all the listed auditions are very old :(It's a sad fact that as long as the updating is left to one person, it's hard to keep things up to date. By contrast with the ACT site, the ITA website is not just maintained by me. The entire ITA committee have access to the databases and can keep the information up to date. This is a true community-driven web site, where the community have an active hand in generating the content for the web site.I'm building features into the new database that will allow _anyone_ to add details on their shows/auditions to the database and indicate which state/city they are in. Additions from non-members will be moderated before appearing, but should appear well within 24 hours of their being posted. This site will then be able to offer more information to interstate visitors.Does anyone else sense a need for a national national outlook? Perhaps a national One Act Festival?CheersGrant

EMAILNOTICES>no> Does anyone else sense a need for a national national outlook?> Perhaps a national One Act Festival? Why the hell not. If we can't go the where the action is ment to be, let's bring it here. If we are able to provide information for activities across Australia, then more and more people will come to this site for their regular Theatrical Fix, which will mean that the ITA will get much more recognition and so will WA. And that can ONLY be good.Jeff "Let's Do It" Watkins

Why not include the rest, all we need is the inclination & 2 Durecel batteries! Then the next step - 'we could be a contender' to host the world championships of one act dramafest's.We are probably the only state who has the 'T' shirts to do IT - Them over there have the knack of rooting around and all we get is to pay the bill. The old saying of "The first taxi on the rank - gets the best fare!" still holds true. Lets polish the cab and set the meter running - it could be done in 2000 (aust) & 2002 for the World Titles. {allowing time to get the Artz funding of course????}So when do we start? - all that's needed is the Cue ........
