Synopsis: Over the course of the play, we see both couples at different ages and stages of their lives, and witness the effects of Tom and Beth’s breakup on Gabe and Karen, who first feel compelled to choose sides, then begin to question the strength of their own seemingly tranquil marriage. They also begin to see the real meaning behind their friendships with Tom and Beth. Read more HERE.

Dinner With Friends premiered at the 1998 Humana Festival of New American Plays and opened off-Broadway in New York on November 4, 1999. The play received the 2000 Pulitzer Prize for Drama.

Characters
Gabe (male, middle-aged), Karen (female, middle-aged), Beth (female, middle-aged), Tom (male, middle-aged). All are lead roles.

In auditioning it may help to consider the script will not deliver the characters. The performers will need to relate to the cross-section of personalities and the shift from taking things for granted to possible endangerment of a marriage. It must be played for real. Rehearsals will start before Christmas, given the season opens mid-February.

For ALL enquiries, all Trevor Dhu on 0409 373 374 or email trevordhutae@gmail.com – relevant sections of the script can be emailed. Please do not leave a message here - use the contact details provided.

The Old Mill Theatre is a community theatre and therefore all roles are voluntary.
