Last of the Red Hot Lovers
Tue, 8 Oct 2002, 06:25 pmHarbour Theatre in Fremantle has tried to obtain the performing rights for the above play by Neil Simon through Dominie in Sydney. They have informed us they have difficulties with the agent in NY as a company is or will be touring with the play. They haven't actually said "no" but we can't get much information out of them. Inspite of extensive searches of the Internet and media we can't find out who this group is. We are now desperate as set building is about the start on 12/10 and the season is supposed to begin on 14/11. Can anyone enlighten us? Please Help! Regards Sidsel

Re: Last of the Red Hot Lovers
Hi Sidsel
The company is called HIT productions in Melbourne. Max Gilles has signed on for the show and I believe Jacki Weaver will be signing too. Now the reason they are being cagey with the rights is that HIT will do the show in Melbourne and Sydney, but they will be applying for funding to do the rest of Australia. If they don't get the funding, then they won't come to Perth.
They are currently doing a production of "Talking Heads" in Sydney and Melbourne and that wasn't given funding , hence no Perth season.
Sorry , I cant give you anymore information Sidsel.
Kerri

Re: Last of the Red Hot Lovers
Perseverance Pays Off! After weeks of communications between Harbour Theatre and Dominie and Neil Simon's agent in NY we are delighted we have obtained the performing rights for the above play. Thanks to everyone who has expressed sympathy with, and interest in our predicament. Sidsel (sec Harbour Theatre)
