The great Eric Morecambe once said: “If you go bald at the front, you’re a great thinker. If you go bald at the back, you’re a great lover. If you go bald at the front and the back, you just think you’re a great lover.” I now find myself in the latter predicament. I personally have no issue with my current appearance outside the stage, but it’s hard to imagine yourself auditioning for the romantic lead when you look like Curly from the Three Stooges (nyuk nyuk), so hair pieces must be considered an option every now and then, even if it’s only to change your appearance to suit a particular role (I recently had to play three different roles in the one play, and wigs were the quickest way to make the change). Anyone know of any good theatrical wig / hair piece suppliers, either for purchase or long term hire (eg the run of a play)? Not the el-cheapo models you find in novelty stores that shed more often than my cats, but decent items that will stand the test of time, and an observant audience?? Thanks muchly. On-line shopping

My suggestion would be to google "quality wigs" - you will get heaps of sites that you can browse to your hearts content. The advantages of shopping on-line are things like lower cost, browsing when it suits you etc. The disadvantages are things like postage and handling costs and delivery time. I've always had good luck finding what I'm looking for on-line, I just have to make sure I leave enough time for shipment. Alternatively, if you are Perth based, there are a couple of good wig shops in the City: Wigs on Wesley (found in Wesley Arcade) and one in Picadilly Arcade (that I can't for the life of me remember the name of). Also, try a good Hair studio/salon (like Maurice Meade) as it's highly possible they may be able to put you in contact with a supplier - they are in the hair biz after all! The final option I can think of is to contact dance supply stores - those dancing girls seem to always have fake hair products and I figure the stores they get their dance supplies from are probably in the know ;) "Creativity is allowing yourself to make mistakes.
