What to see in Melbourne?

I'm in Melbourne for the next couple of days and will probably have a couple of free nights to catch shows. I'm not a huge fan of the big, expensive blockbusters and musicals - not when i'm likely to be attending by myself at any rate.

But i wouldn't mind getting out to see some local shows. Any recommendations? I'm staying in the CBD and relying on public transport, so the shows would need to be reasonably close by and accessible by public transport.

What's a an absolute must see this Thursday and Friday night?

Cheers
Grant

PS. Sorry - should have put this under Totally Vic, shouldn't i?

Hi,
Here's something else for you to consider. Also at Chapel off Chapel which is helping to bring good quality theatre to the Melbourne public at an affordable price. Good on them.

The DoggerÂ’s Run is a new play with music written by Geoffrey OÂ’Connell and script by Drew Tingwell, which follows two seemingly disparate journeys. The first is that of The Dogger played by Phil Sumner and follows his dingo-culling journey along the 5000-mile long dingo fence across Australia. The other follows Trahn and Su, a young Vietnamese couple played by Irving LaBrooy and Marie Ng, who desperately seek asylum in Australia. They are forced to flee an increasingly harsh and violent Communist regime to keep their lives and their dignity. With set design by Kellee Frith and lighting by Cassie Arnold, the play can be seen at Chapel Off Chapel in Prahran starting on Thursday the 21st of June until Sunday 1st of July. Performance times are 8-30pm Wednesday to Saturday and 6-30pm on Sundays.
P.S. It's my first directing gig.
Bookings can be made on 9522 3390, and the play is presented by Chapel off Chapel Productions, Lush Dingo Productions and is generously supported by Rowland Productions.
