Chookas
Sat, 16 Sept 2006, 12:50 pmI have a question. I know people say Chookas to wish people luck - it's been said to me quite a bit lately but does anyone know the story behind that saying? It's really beginning to bug me so anyone who knows please . . .let me know! lol

Ah, now I see the Yiddish
Wed, 3 Jan 2007, 05:07 pmAh, now I see the Yiddish reference to toi toi toi (Fiddler on the Roof or The Nanny for example).
Perhaps I needed to read it phonetically to get it.
Though this isn't a Yiddish thing; probably European on the whole.
