Hi all,

Looking for some advice from some of the more experienced among you. I am looking for representation and I have no idea where to start.

Can anyone suggest any good theatrical agents, particularly in Melbourne. I have no idea who has a good reputation and who does not. Please don't clutter up the board - mail me privately at:
sad_waters@hotmail.com

Thanks
Emma

Hey all. Okay first and foremost (and I'm sure you've already done this) get yourself a portfolio together; head-shot is a definate must. Now there are a couple of ways to go about this... firstly is basic door knocking... this can be tricky as agents tend to get it a lot, however it can also have some unexpected surprises. Don't think that you can just leave your portfolio on their doorstep and walk away though. People who are unknown in the industry and get work usually badger badger badger. Next, get into some amature work, or even better, create your own! Invite agents along (with comp tickets... dont expect them to pay!) And hope to god that they come!

Apart from that... knowing people in the industry does help. Stand at a stage door during a show and ask if they need a dresser or a stage sweeper. Anyway to get yourself in!

Hope that helps a little bit
