The WaterÂ’s Edge
The WaterÂ’s Edge is full of suspense, murder, and romance. It is a high-concept action thriller geared toward an adult audience.
The WaterÂ’s Edge is where the answer to this mystery lies. Grace Wellington, a New York private investigator, takes a well-deserved cruise to the beautiful island of Antigua. While sunning on the deck of the ship, she overhears the threats of a madman. Tony Corrente wants his wife dead. How far will he go to make this a reality? How can she save Isabella CorrenteÂ’s life if she canÂ’t be found?
She teams up with Steele Foster, an attractive Australian bartender/writer. Together they try to stop this killer in his tracks. Grace finds she is in over her head when she is kidnapped in Antigua. Who will survive and who will end up on The WaterÂ’s Edge?

WHO:
Lead – Grace Wellington –Self-confident, tough, intelligent, likable and attractive
*Images of females today are generally more assertive
*This character is active rather than reactive
*SheÂ’s layered, multi-dimensional, she is strong but also isnÂ’t ashamed to show her weaknesses.
*She passionate about her situation
*A number of actresses could play this role
*Even though she is a strong character she finds herself vulnerable as her character experiences her fiancéÂ’s infidelity. (Something many women have experienced)
*She struggles to help Isabella escape from an abusive relationship which many women find themselves in today.
*GraceÂ’s character emotionally deals with emotions of hurt, love, fear, anger, vulnerability
Co-Lead- Steele Foster - Attractive but likeable, easy to relate to his character, strong, caring, protective (white knight – every girl’s dream)
*Very cast-able – A number of actors could play this role
*ItÂ’s a character, men envy to be and women consider ideal
*The industry is largely white, male, heterosexual (which is why SteeleÂ’s role is also a lead character)
Actress – Isabella Corrente - Abused woman, low self esteem, wealthy, attractive
*Character is unfortunately someone that millions of women will relate to.
*Being wealthy shows the world that this is not a problem that generally a problem of those who are economically poor.
*It shows that unfortunately like in reality these women are in danger of losing their lives.
Actor – Tony Corrente- The villain, abuser who’s actions move the story forward and make the story into a compelling and believable story.
*Character has all the qualities that make up the typical abusive person.
*Unfortunately many people will see a person that might remind them of someone who has crossed their paths in one way or another.
*They will get to see this hated character get what he deserves in the end.
Limited speaking actors: There are only a total of 15 actors; they all have a point of view and distinct voice. There are really only 4 characters that have major speaking parts.
WHERE
Exotic locations, which include a luxury cruise ship/ beautiful island of either Antigua or Cape Town, South Africa.
*The audience will feel like theyÂ’ve been on vacation.
WHEN:
ItÂ’s a modern day, contemporary movie.
HOW:
The location, music, action and sound effects create a positive rhythm of the movie. The action scenes propel the decisions that Grace and Steele make.
WHY:
This script‘s main characters are likable and relatable; they are on a mission to help someone who is in danger. The audience will get caught up in the desire to join in the challenge. Along the way they are able to enjoy the beautiful scenery, excitement & romance and to ultimately solve the mystery.
The director, actors wonÂ’t mind spending a year of their lives preparing and making this movie because unlike the audience they will be experiencing first hand the beautiful scenery, cruise ship and the fact that they were a part of a movie that touched a very sensitive issue, spousal abuse.
Unfortunately, it is all too common today in all walks of life and cultures.
Target Audience – This script covers many movie markets – date movies, chick movie, female appeal, male appeal, and those who love a romantic, thriller.
