Re: Considering a career change

Get to a city and drama school. If the big cheese ones don't take you, then Enemble acting studios is the last great hope of doing a three year course. Otherwise Re:Actor Acting services do a nine month course - in Sydney - which finishes with an agent and casting director showcase. Without training, you're pushing @!#$ up hill, unless you're keen on soaps, and then you're relying heavily on having a look they're after. (Whatever that is. Plain and boring seems to be the standard.)

Re: Considering a career change

Hiya Jai,
Sorry for the tardy relpy. How nice it would be to merely have an interest in acting and then decide to make it a career! Making money out of acting seems to be a VERY rare occurance, however, getting enjoyment out of your interest is extremely EASY. Go Along to the Mandurah Performing Arts Centre and pick up a copy of "Centre Stage"
this pamphlet usually has upcoming audition notices, ask to be put on their mailing list. M.P.A.C. puts on several "in-house" productions each year, usually involving large casts, and are always on the lookout for new faces. (Website at: www.manpac.com.au ) If the big stage of M.P.A.C. seems a bit daunting for a newcomer then perhaps you may prefer to start off on the smaller stage at Pinjarra. The "Murray Drama & Music Club" are currently performing 'Oliver' and have some wonderfull shows planned for next year. Go along to either venue on a show night and introduce yourself. You will find some very friendly and welcoming people at both of these places as you would in most 'Community Theatre' families.
Hope this has helped, Maybe I'll see you at one of their shows.
I am currently performing in the 'Hotham Valley Murder Mystery' with Murray Drama & Music Club and will also be in the 'Rotary Christmas Spectacular' at M.P.A.C.

Yours,
Graham

"Catty" says I am plain and boring because I am in a soap! That is a bit Catty! You shouldn't really judge people Catty.....you never know who's toes you are stepping on in this industry!
