Apologies for the fact that this really has nothing at all to do with theatre, but I thought it might be a good place to find someone. And art is art and story is story is story yah?

To get right to the point.

I want to make a comic.

And as I have barely enough hand-eye co-ordination to scrawl my name, address and phone number on the competition entry forms I find myself filling out every time I go to my local Subway™ store for a delicious sub with under six grams of fat – I need help. I’m looking for an artist who makes comic art or at least has an interest in doing so. And when I say comics I’m not referring to Garfield, Wizard of Id, Modesty Blaise or anything else that can be found in the Big Weekend section. I’m also not thinking along the lines of Superman, Spawn, X-Men or any other of these testosterone-tainted titles. (Not that I don’t have great respect for them.) Nor manga, anime or any other sort of largely unintelligible Japanese pablum cantered around improbably frequent as well as unnecessarily lengthy explosions of energy and featuring tiny mouthed, huge eyed schoolgirls with tits the size of GM cantaloupes. No, no, tis not my bent at all. More like Hellbazer, Preacher, Maus, or practically anything written by Neil Gaiman or Alan Moore. Graphic novels - comics for grown-ups, though not necessarily serious. If you are familiar with the titles I'm tossing about here all the better as we will have some common ground, if not thats fine too - your approach will be fresh as fresh. As to the style the artist would like to work in I am open to any sort of image making; pencil, paint, computer, charcoal, photocopier or anything else. We can suit the style to the story and go from there. I have a few ideas lurking around my cerebellum, one or two stuck in my kidneys, or we could generate something from your art.

I am most definitely a comic-authoring virgin so its fine if you too still have your sequential-art cherry. Alternatively you could be a well-used veteran; a pro who's been on the recieving end of many a two-page spread, thighs ink-stained and pockmarked with the tender ministrations of a thousand amorous panels. I'm open minded.

Please, if your interested or you know of someone who may be, get back to me for an obligation-free discussion. (Incidentally, email and chat and the like means that it can be someone non-WA.)

Thanks for your time.
