ACTORS WANTED FOR SHORT FLM (WA)

All his life, James Telemann has lived in the rural Wheat Belt, working the land and breeding cattle - and he would have it no other way. The isolation and solitude of the farm however, is a doubled edged sword to James. He loves the serenity and beauty of the land, but now that he lives alone on the old property, James often feels like there is something lost – something amiss in his life. He is also now more acutely and tensely aware of a presence there with him. The short film Strange Eyes is a complex yet somehow seamless blend of the drama and science fiction genres, drawing on key elements from each and employing them in what can only be described as a sophisticated script from a young and talented emerging Perth director Jesse Collins. The personal nature of the strong dramatic issues of isolation and illness constructed around the life of the main character, James, are surrounded by a certain mystery highlighted through the use of underlying science fiction techniques in the ongoing strange occurrences he experiences. This blend allows fantasy to meet reality and provides a platform for the audience to really relate to the film while simultaneously enjoying its entertainment value. This is a postgraduate student production founded on a hardworking crew determined to produce an industry standard film marketed towards both national and international film festivals. We are looking for actors to fill the following roles: • JAMES – Lead, Male, 40 years old. > Description – Handsome, tall, slightly overweight, tanned, very casually dressed. > Personality - A man of habit and morals who is comfortable with living alone out on the farm. James is intelligent, strong, sometimes sociable, yet sometimes not. He is a deep thinker who retains a strong sense of who he is in the grand scheme of things. • ALAN – Main, Male, 55 years old. > Description - A well built, stocky figured man of the land whom has many years of hardship etched on his face. He is also battling cancer. > Personality - Alan is the outgoing type, who thrives on a challenge, builds on what he has, and learns from his failures. • YOUNG JAMES – Male, around 10 years old. James was very much the innocent, timid, imaginative yet naïve child. • FATHER – Male, 45 years old. A kind and strong man of much patience who raised James like himself. • MOTHER – Female, 44 years old. A honest, incredibly caring mother who would do anything for her children. • BRODY (BROTHER) – Male, around 12 years old. A smart boy who is always eager. • MELISSA (SISTER) – Female, around 14 years old. A mature and grounded young woman. However, we are also looking for extras in some scenes. Anyone interested should contact us via email and attach a headshot. Auditions are scheduled to run on Saturday the 3rd of July from 9am until 1pm and Sunday the 4th of July from 2pm until 6pm. Filming is scheduled to commence in the last week of July and will be shot in three blocks through until mid to late August.
