AUDITION NOTICE: Michel Azama’s play "Crossfire" Ashfield Youth Theatre is calling for young people across the inner west of Sydney to audition for Michel Azama's production of "Crossfire" directed by Jo Turner. About the play… "Crossfire" is a story of war atrocity. Its text fearlessly interweaves time, place and generations in a rich but sparse poetic language. It responds to the issues of war, conflict and ethnic division with a non-didactic and lyrical voice, providing a terrifying and timeless human drama, a theatre-poem, all at once tender and outraged, violent and impassioned. In Michel Azama's extraordinary contemporary play, the characters are caught in the crossfire, tumbling through the checkpoint of life and death. About the director… Jo Turner has worked extensively in the youth theatre sector since 1999. He regularly works for ATYP, Shopfront Youth Theatre, the University of Western Sydney, the Actor's Centre, ACTT, and NIDA. He directed Mr Puntila and His Man Matti for ATYP (2004), Don't Stare too Much! (Darlinghurst Theatre 04) and The No Chance in Hell Hotel (Darlinghurst Theatre, IPAC, Hong Kong). Jo is also a professional performer having worked for the Sydney Theatre Company, Belvoir St, the Ensemble, the Q Theatre, La Boite, Black Swan and B Sharp as well as in feature film (You Can't Stop the Murders) and on television (All Saints, White Collar Blue, Backberner).
