The Dream: director sought
Thu, 27 Oct 2005, 09:41 amGRADS and UDS are actively seeking expressions of interest from directors that would like to direct A Midsummer Night's Dream for a season in the New Fortune Theatre in March 2006.
This will be the twelfth consecutive season of summer Shakespeare in the only replica Elizabethan theatre in the southern hemisphere. The season regularly attracts large audiences that enjoy outdoor performances in this uniquely appropriate venue. Past summer Shakespeare directors have included the illustrious John Milson, the erudite Collin O'Brien, and the inspirational Stephen Lee.
We apologise for the late notice but the joint GRADS and UDS production committee needs brief (1-2 page) written submissions by 7th November 2005 for consideration by the committee the following day. We'd like you to tell us how you would visualise staging the production; casting, costume, setting - with a particular focus on how you would take advantage of the features of the venue. We'd also like you to include in your submission any information about your education, training or experience that might equip you to tackle a large cast production of Shakespeare.
Auditions would ideally be held this year with rehearsals commencing in 2005.
Please note that we're sadly not in a position to pay directors for undertaking this task although some remuneration of reasonable expenses may be negotiated prior to commencement.
Please send submissions to grant.malcolm@gmail.com
We will be back in touch with all respondents before 19 November.

Hi Grant. Should it read, "rehearsals start in 2006?"
Cheers.
