Lead Actors for WA Short Film
Mon, 27 Sept 2004, 12:41 pmHi there.
Nicholas here, a Murdoch University Film and Media Arts student, currently working on a short film project. We're looking for actors to participate in our production. Here's some info on our film. If you're interested, you can call me at 04 3163 9018 or email me at nicholas_andrew_john@yahoo.com to set up an audition date.
Some housekeeping details: We cannot afford to pay the actors for their role but can promise you a good showreel piece and good food during production. Shooting will be mainly during the night to accommodate production logistics, etc and shooting locations will be around Murdoch area, WA. After having read that, if you're still interested, please feel free to browse through some of the info behind this project.
Working Title: PULL THE WOOL OVER YOUR EYES
Duration: approx. 10 mins
This short film deals with denial through the act of lying. It involves 5 characters ‘handicapped’ by their past with contrasting backgrounds seeking for the complete recovery from a certain sense of loss. A seemingly harmless game (blindfolded hide and seek) brings them together to face their deepest fears in a day of unfortunate coincidences. The paranoia of deception is a major component in this film which sees characters constantly grappling for the ‘truth’.
Synopsis:
Murray’s need to impress has got him into trouble. He brought the hyperactive kid (Hay) he was paid to baby-sit for a drive with his wacky neighbour (Victoria) in the owner’s (Wellington) car. What seemed like a relatively harmless activity turns ugly after Victoria invites the kids (Hay, her step-sister Jewell and neighbour Macey) to play a game (blindfolded hide and seek). The game takes a step too far when Victoria decides to teach Hay a lesson and puts him in an abandoned house to find her way out. Hay doesn’t exit from the place after a series of hysterical noises, forcing them (Murray and Victoria) to search for her in the run-down structure. Hay is missing. A certain stranger, who happens to be living there, recovers little Hay, who is now unconscious. Murray and Victoria panics. It is late, they hurry back home with Hay out in the car boot. Now, Murray has to explain himself to Mr. Wellington and risk the consequences OR save his butt by telling a convincing lie and pinning the ‘accident’ on a scapegoat. Will his lie return to haunt him?
We have 5 characters all with different requirements. We have 4 actors confirmed after our recent auditions (Mr. Wellington, Hay, Jewell and Macey) and are still looking for our 2 lead actors.
MURRAY (14-17yrs) Lead Actor. Over-achiever. Top of his class. Only child. DoesnÂ’t believe in having a social life. Mr. Know-it-all.
VICTORIA (14-17yrs) Lead Actress. Brutally honest. Thrives on adventure. Uncomfortable in silence. Finds little kids irritating. Short-tempered. Oldest of six siblings in her family.
Thanks a bunch!
