'The Last Five Years', the musical for people who love musicals to introduce to people who hate musicals: Somehow, within its two characters and one act, this show manages to be everything that theatre can be. Everything, in fact, that art can be.

Its virtues have been sung (bad pun, I knowÂ…) frequently and with the required hyperbole, so there's little point my repeating it here. If you've even heard the recording once, you know what I'm talking about. If you've seen other productions, or were even lucky enough to witness Mr. Robert Brown perform his piece in Adelaide, then it's a part of who you are. If you've never experienced it, then you've almost certainly been told to (and, if not, consider this your first warning).

Devanesen Productions, the company with Sunayan Devanesen behind it, is giving you the opportunity to see this legendary show in its ultimate incarnation.

Giving voice to Jamie, the writer balancing a successful novel and an unsuccessful marriage, is the chronically underexposed Scott McKenzie ('Sweeney Todd', 'Merrily We Roll Along', 'Into the Woods').
With him, and then without (or the other way around, depending on which narrative you choose to follow), the soon-to-leave-our-shores Laura Fitzpatrick ('The Full Monty', 'Merrily We Roll Along', 'Songs For A New World') fills the character shoes of Cathy.

If the cast is making you drool (and, let's face it, there's something there for everybodyÂ…), then the Production Team will leave you in a puddle of anticipation. Green Room nominee Adrian Kirk heads up the musical side of things, while AFI winner Peter Fitzpatrick serves as Production Consultant.
A better team for the material is barely imaginable, and you only have one chance to see this unique concert event.
That's right, 'The Last Five Years in concert' is a one-night-only event.

It all happens on Sunday 26 September, 8pm.
All tickets are $25, and you can bet your well-constructed narrative that every last ticket will vanish. This is the event of the year, and you'd be a fool to miss it.
Bookings are open right now on 9818 7567.
So, we'll see you at The Lido, 675 Glenferrie Rd., Hawthorn.
