Dear Sir / Madam,

L.I.T.E.S Drama 2000 Summer School will take place at Dublin City
University, from Monday 24th July to Friday 4th August 2000, in Dublin, the
most exciting city in Europe.

The course emphasises the practical aspects of self presentation which
assists participants with public performance as well as within their own
personal life. Classes and workshops include acting, movement, voice
production, improvisation, and scene study of the best of English and Irish
classical and contemporary drama. A range of short lectures cover acting in
the modern world; screen technique; management presentations, performance in
training, etc.

At the conclusion of each course, students have an opportunity to present a
performance of their `work in progress' before an audience of teachers,
fellow students and invited guests.

This course has been carefully structured to provide a progressive training
programme which permits maximum freedom of self expression while developing
individual skills to the highest level. It has been designed not only for
professional performers, but for all those interested in acting and gaining
self confidence by realising their full potential.

Text work, will concentrate mainly on the great Anglo-Irish dramatists:
Oscar Wilde; Richard Brinsley Sheridan; George Bernard Shaw; John Millington
Synge; Sean O'Casey; Brendan Behan; Brian Friel; as well as Shakespeare,
Pinter, etc..

All staff members are professional actors, directors, broadcasters etc.,
with extensive training and performance experience. The student body is
drawn from countries world-wide, with participants ranging from professional
actors and university professors to drama students, teachers and sales
personnel, as well as those with little, or no previous presentation
experience.

While the objective is to broaden participants range of ability, the social
aspect of the event must not be forgotten. Participants are actively
encouraged to socialise with the teaching staff, in the carefree atmosphere,
for which Dublin is famous. This form of relaxed interaction breaks down
barriers, improves social skills, consolidates working relationships, and
affords a unique opportunity to improve theatrical knowledge.
Students learn that although acting is a serious profession, it can also
provide the most exhilarating, fun filled holiday you will ever experience.

As you may be aware Dublin is famous for its theatres, museums and seats of
learning, as well as breweries, distilleries, pubs, clubs, etc. It is
surrounded by fabulous beaches and mountains. These locations provide a
relaxing backdrop for participants to discuss their fears, hopes, aims and
ambitions with fellow students and members of the teaching staff.
