SAMR TIME, NEXT YEAR! (of course)
Sun, 19 Dec 1999, 12:54 pmHello Everybody,
Just wanted to let everyone know about the Old Mill's production of SAME TIME, NEXT YEAR opening on 14th January 2000.
For those who need a memory jog, STNY is also a film of the same name starring Alan Alda and Ellen Burstyn...
STNY stars Joe Isaia ('Death of a Salesman'; Finley Award winner for 'NUTS') and Jenny McCann ('A Streetcar Named Desire'; 'When She Danced') and is directed by yours truly.
Rehearsals are well underway and going exceptionally well - these two actors, whilst individually brilliant, are together a complete knockout!
Some of you may remember Joe in his original incarnation of this role of George at 'KADS'. For those people, I think it will be interesting to compare the differences in performance, production and interpretation. Because it is a very different experience. STNY is a very rich script lending itself to many interpretations.
Bookings are open and all the season/booking details are listed in the 'What's On' Section of this site under JANUARY 2000.
I hope to see many familiar faces in the crowd and certainly many new faces as well.
I hope you can all see your way to supporting this production - for 3 main reasons:
1. We are 'competing' with PIAF (though at $10 a ticket, we're *much* better value).
2. It is the dawning of a new era of production at the Old Mill. Featuring video and stills projection, the idea is to incorporate the technology to the aim of creating an historical context/counterpoint to the action on stage. I believe this will be a thrilling part of the overall production.
3. It's going to be a darn fine production. Joe and Jenny will delight beyond measure, the sets and costumes already look fantastic and lighting will be excellent (and that's my humble opinion)!
See you there...
Jason Seperic
