Theatre Performance: SCARLETT’S ROOM by ALEXANDER GIBBS Presented by CONUNDRUM PRODUCTIONS in conjunction with Revolt Melbourne Welcome to Ruby’s, a place where all your fantasies can came true. For a price. Jeremy isn’t quite sure why he’s here- he’s just turned eighteen and he’s never even kissed a girl. When he meets Scarlett, he thinks he’s found the girl of his dreams. But he hasn’t spent time in her room yet. Scarlett ’s Room is a comedy-drama that explores the classic themes of coming-of-age, friendship and loyalty. It just happens to be set in a brothel. Scarlett's Room is the first full-length Melbourne production for newly relocated Sydney playwright and director Alexander Gibbs. Alexander's new Melbourne-based production company Conundrum Productions is proud to present Scarlett's Room, starring a cast of six talented Melbourne actors including Hannah Gott, fresh off the success of 21 and Nick Enright’s Good Works, and newcomer Sean Paisley Collins. Scarlett’s Room is based on the real-life experiences of its writer-director. “Yes, there really is a Scarlett,” Gibbs says. “And a lot of Scarlett’s Room is indeed based on true events. Of course, I’ve had to change a few details… but as for what’s fact and what’s fiction, I’m not telling!” The play was written as a comedy but has many dramatic elements. “More than anything, I’ve tried to make it a snapshot of real life,” Gibbs says. “And real life doesn’t follow a particular genre – it’s funny as often as it’s heartbreaking. That’s what I’m hoping to convey with Scarlett’s Room… and with this brilliant and dedicated cast, not only is a time in my life very close to my heart being recreated before my eyes, a poignant and uplifting story is being told for the first time.” Written and Directed by Alexander Gibbs Starring: Hannah Gott (The Temperature’s Rising, 21, Good Works) Sean Paisley Collins (Here Comes the Sun, Peter and Paisley: Two Knights Only, Good Works) Kristina Benton (Skinhouse, M) as well as Kate Dix (Good Works, Blood Wedding, Coming Home, Pool no Water) and Mike Roberts (Cold Reading Series) and Jacqui Stewart (Crash Test) Listing Information Venue: Revolt Artspace, 12 Elizabeth Street Kensington Date: April 25-May 5, 2012 Time: 8PM Cost: $25/17.50 Bookings: www.revoltproductions.com More info: scarlettsroom.blogspot.com SPECIAL BOOKING RATES WITH EQUITY AND DRAMA SCHOOL - 2 FOR $25, CONTACT CONUNDRUM FOR BOOKING
