This Saturday, FTI and Perth makeup FX house Marr Street Studios present a seminar targeted at helping actors understand how to best make use of makeup. Effective makeup can make-or-break an actors’ characterisation. Working film actors are often reliant on others to bring out their best features, while in theatre actors are usually required to do their own makeup. No matter where you do most of your work, an understanding of how to professionally apply makeup and create basic character looks will help you to get the most out of this tool. Taught by professional makeup artists Siouxane Martincic and Kate Anderson, this course is designed for actors (and those who work with them) to learn the basics of makeup theory and application. At the conclusion of the workshop, you will have a solid understanding of what to do and what not to do when applying your own makeup for film and live performances, understand how to highlight your best features and minimize their perceived flaws, and will have learned how to alter your appearance in subtle ways. It's an inexpensive workshop at $40 for general public or $20 for FTI members. The course runs from 10-5pm on Saturday at FTI, Adelaide Street Fremantle. While booking is not essential for this event, RSVP is appreciated to Liz at fti@fti.asn.au.
