CASTING CALL - Theatre "The Mystery Cruise" Drama (MELBOURNE) - Both sexes, 30s.
Sun, 22 May 2011, 04:13 pmTHE MYSTERY CRUISE: a divorce fantasy
This is a 60 minute play.
STORY
A divorcing husband and wife are haunted by a wizard and a witch on a trans-Pacific cruise.
AIMS
The aim of this play is to challenge – we are setting out to solve a problem beyond logic: how do the divorcing lovers manage to remain together?
Our aim is to tell this story with the minimum of kitchen-sink ‘realism’ scenes (where lovers hurl abuse at each other) and with some humour and magic.
ROLES:
2 female, 2 male – all in their 30s.
ADAM – the husband. Tired of his wife and wanting more sexual excitement.
JOANNE – the wife. Frustrated with her husband’s infidelity and abuses him constantly for it.
MAGICIAN – a worn out magician now doing the rounds on a cruise ship. A trickster with a heart problem. Very intelligent and humourous.
SLUT – a cross between a prostitute and a goddess. She lures men in with her sexual energy then screws them over. Very cunning, vengeful and attractive.
ABOUT THE PRODUCTION
Like our earlier shows, this is a voluntary co-op production by Aftonbridge Theatre. See www.aftonbridge.com for past shows.
Any profits are split equally among the cast and crew.
The show is designed to be compact and flexible allowing for performances in any kind of space.
After an initial run of at least 2 weeks, the idea is to perform over a longer period of time to allow for long term exposure but only doing maybe 1 performance per week, e.g. every Sunday evening. Performance dates are yet to be decided.
Rehearsals will be flexible and discussed to suit the casts’ available time.
WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU?
Getting your name and performance out there – a live demonstration of your ability
Real performance experience (not just acting lessons and workshops)
Unusual parts to explore
TO AUDITION
A short monologue performance and improv exercises just to get a feel for your performance and personality.
Initial submission through online video link would be great but not essential.
Please contact Thomas on 0401 456 222 to discuss/arrange an audition time or you can email tgfirth@aftonbridge.com
