GRADS 2011 Summer Shakespeare Season Opens in two weeks! Twelfth Night By: William Shakespeare Director: Peter Clark “... we will draw the curtain and show you the picture.” Venue: New Fortune Theatre, UWA Dates: 15th till 19th & 22nd till 26th March 2011 (Tues to Sat for 2 weeks - 10 shows) Olivia falls for new boy Cesario who is really Viola dressed as a boy. Viola has her eye on Orsino, while Orsino pines for Olivia, who is ever more taken with Cesario. That is until she claps eyes on Viola’s twin brother, who looks a little too much like his sister. To this, add a sexually frustrated steward, a randy old drunk, a maid with attitude, a fop, a fool and a clown and what begins in the aftermath of catastrophe soon transforms into gender-bending mayhem. Cast list: Sir Toby * John Taylor Viola * Krysia Wiechecki Olivia * Cassie Vagliviello Feste * Grace Edwards Sir Andrew * Rodney Van Groningen Malvolio * Tom Rees Orsino * Clayton Zwanenburg Maria * Laura Djanegara Fabian * Ellen O'Connor Sebastian * Scott Corbett Antonio * Iskandar Sharazuddin Captain * Robert Ross Curio * Martyn Churcher Valentine * Chloerissa Eadie Second Officer * Melanie Bennett Stage Manager * Glynis Best The vision for this production is a rather quirky morphing of the play’s characters into well known ones from classic children’s stories. Sitting under the stars, audiences will be transported into a super-sized world where toys come to life and we see things from their angle. In using this non-traditional approach, the directors ambition is to make the play more accessible to people of all ages, whilst maintaining the richness of the text of this timeless tale.
