Amadeus Auditions
Mon, 10 Jan 2011, 05:23 pmSpeaking to a few people recently, it appears some people are not auditioning for Amadeus because they can't play piano, or sing!
Amadeus is not a musical. It is a very powerful drama.
In the audition notice I did say;
*Ideally the actors playing Salieri and Mozart will be able to play piano as I wish to have a harpsichord on stage and would like the playing scenes to be performed live. However, this may be an idealistic dream and I accept that. I would rather have excellent non piano playing actors, than limit myself by setting piano playing ability as a requirement.
I reiterate the last statement. I want the best possible actors up there and not playing piano will not stop you getting the role if you are the best actor!
I also need a large ensemble cast playing mainly silent roles. But hey, no lines to learn! Just the enjoyment of being up there (quite a bit) and none of the really hard slog of memorising lines!
Hoping to hear from lots of people interested in all roles and the ensemble cast.
