“CHARLEY’S AUNT” A Comedy by Brandon Thomas Directed by Linda Redman Performance Dates: 8th – 30th April 2011 ***Please note: these dates include Easter*** Summer 189- Undergraduates Charley Wykeham and Jack Chesney pressure fellow student Fancourt Babberley to pose as Charley's Brazilian Aunt Donna Lucia. Their purpose is to have a chaperone for their lunch with Amy and Kitty. Complications begin when Fancourt, in drag, becomes the love object of old Spettigue and Sir Francis Chesney, Jack’s father. The real Donna Lucia arrives under an assumed name with Ela, the lost love of Babberly, who cannot pursue her as he is disguised as Charley’s aunt. However, as in all theatrical love matches, after much rushing around and contrived situations, all’s well that ends well. Characters (stage age): Colonel Sir Francis Chesney (50s) Late Indian Service Stephen Spettigue (50-60) Solicitor, Oxford Jack Chesney Undergraduate at St.Olde’s College, Oxford Charles Wykeham Undergraduate at St.Olde’s College, Oxford Lord Fancourt Babberley Undergraduate at St.Olde’s College, Oxford Brassett (male) (plays old) College Valet/Butler Donna Lucia D’Alvadorez (40ish) From Brazil Kitty Verdun (late teens) Spettigue’s Ward Amy Spettigue (late teens) Spettigue’s Niece Ela Delahay (about 20) An Orphan Read through/social: Tuesday 18th January 7.30pm Auditions: Saturday 22nd January 2.30pm Both events will be held at Garrick Theatre, Guildford Please ring Linda on 0419 924 756 for more information.
