Haunted Theatres
Tue, 5 Oct 2010, 10:36 amHi people, I am a member of a paranormal research group, and we are interested in hearing about any ghost stories from local(WA) theatres. Also we would like to be able to do a supervised investigation in any local haunts. This is a serious group, who have many years experience in this type of research and they have many new technologies at their disposal to investigate the paranormal. I know myself that I have had some weird experiences in a local green room, so are keen to hear any other stories.
The group is called West Australian Paranormal Reasearchers(WAPR) and if you would like more info, you can check out the website here. http://waparanormal.webs.com/
Thanks
Not in WA but....
Fri, 8 Oct 2010, 11:11 amMy father told me about his experience at Her Majesty's here in Adelaide. He, and a number of the cast, noticed an old lady sitting in the circle during their dress rehearsal (this was in the 50's I believe). They asked the staff who said they were "lucky, she only appears at the dress of a successful run". Sure enough, they had a great season.
Also here in Adelaide at The Q Theatre on Halifax Street during 1993...our wardrobe lady stayed behind to finish hemming the interminable lengths of tunics (poor thing!) for a production of the Scottish Play. She says she turned around and saw a little girl dressed in a turn of the century style smock and boots. She said Hello, turned back to her sewing, turned back, little girl was gone. The building was built as the Sunday School for the Stow Memorial Church.
Finally, in England, at the Stag Theatre, I was on stage door duty one night and heard the steps on the iron staircase Logos reports above. I heard them coming up from the dressing room down below and expected a person to appear at any moment, when they didn't I nipped out from behind my counter to have a look but, no-one was there. I didn't hear the steps going back down so can only assume that whatever/whoever it was had decided to stay and have a chat. Very odd..local rumour was that a former night manager, when the building was a cinema, had had a heart attack while doing his lock up rounds. He died and was found the next morning. We always thought he was just trying to finish his rounds.
