Casting Call - Reef and Beef (Feature film)

We're looking to cast a feature film set in and around Brisbane and seeking to fill the following roles. Auditions to be held in August; looking to commence filming in mid/late Septmember (on weekends) until early 2011. Production title: Reef and Beef Location: Brisbane and surrounds Type of production: feature film Payment type: Seeking funding - deferred payment. Film synopsis below: REEF 'N' BEEF GREG decides he needs a change of vocation. He calls upon his best mate BASS, the common sense of the pair, to join him in his quest to become a professional shark wrangler. GREG soon realises that the mission will require some funds to get them started. Fortunately, BASS reluctantly agrees to outlay his money set aside for his wife's wedding ring and honeymoon, in the hope that the investment will pay dividends. GREG's Mum, BARB, is all for the change, and even supplies the boys with stock from her beloved abattoir. The boys' respective other halves, SHARON and DARLENE, although not so supportive, have bigger and more pertinent issues on their mind...DARLENE and BASS' wedding! Add to the mix GREG's younger sister SHELL, a uni student and budding left wing extremist, and things are prone to go very, very south! Will the boys be successful in their epic quest to prove to researchers they can tag a large shark? Will BARB keep her abattoir open, despite formidable opposition and subjugation from the local band of radicals? Will DARLENE and BASS make it to the altar? Will SHELL realise the errors in her ways? Will RUSS, BARB's defacto, ever say a word? Set with the luscious Queensland coastline as its backdrop, Reef 'n' Beef will give you a comical insight into the disorderly existence of these quirky, yet all too familiar aussie characters. Expect determination, grit, will, failure, more failure...and maybe even a silver lining. Roles available: BASS: 27y/o Very gentle and likable nature; blue collar worker; worships GREG, and is often misled because of this fact; loves his soon to be bride (DARLENE), and is often torn between her wishes and those of GREG; honest by nature; loyal; taller in stature; lives his life in accordance with the wishes of those close to him, which often provides him with a torturous (and very humorous) existence; has a fantastic heart, and really aims to please all, which is, unfortunately, never quite possible. SHARON: 25y/o Beautician; Sexy appearance; somewhat of a bitch; has a very domineering presence, which is especially present around DARLENE; self serving; she married GREG as he was thought to be the 'cool guy' in high school; constantly nagging, and is inherently unhappy with how her life has turned out; sees DARLENE's wedding as an opportunity to shine once more, and uses her influence to tailor the wedding to her needs; likes to maintain a certain outward image, and is thus disinclined to be seen in public with the gang. DARLENE: 24y/o EEN Nurse studying to be an RN; very similar to BASS in terms of being somewhat submissive; loves SHARON , though is aware of the smothering influence she has on some of her decisions; disagrees with GREG?s actions at times, though is reluctant to ever speak out; worries about GREG?s influence on BASS, especially regarding their financial situation; naturally good looking; good listener, and mostly does this rather than talk; often perceived as being a push over, but is able to hold her own if the need arises; became attracted to BASS due to his generous and lovable nature; SHELL: 19 y/o GREG's sister; political science undergrad; left wing extremist; vehemently speaks her mind; her views are completely antithetical to those of GREG; gay; constantly aims to subjugate GREG; loves her mum, but is appalled with her profession; frequently involved in protests; detests the hegemony that is the direct product of mainstream society; revels in GREG?s failures, and is sometimes the cause of them; mates with SHARON and DARLENE; pretty, and bohemian looking with dark goth-like features; she has just entered the experimental stage of her life, and is thus trying to discover where exactly she fits in; although she is extremely book-smart, her lack of life experience sometimes land her in situations that are less than favourable; has an open, honest, and innocent nature when one looks closer; speaks with a far more neutral accent. MASTER FREN: 45-55y/o MASTER FREN is the founder of the cult. His extreme left wing ideologies are directly relayed to the followers via LISA. He is an old school environmentalist. His socialist guise serves to mask his true capitalist tendencies, many of which are unethical and corrupt. He is in cahoots with various scientists and the odd politician, whom he often pays in order to attain dodgy results/policies. He is pompous, and speaks with an RP (Queen's English) accent. DAISY: 23y/o DAISY is a bubbly young lady who is enjoying the bohemian ride. Although she's a long standing member of Earth Angels, she's more about having fun and messing with peoples' lives, rather than the political side of things. She is pleasant by nature, and enjoys being the eternal student. Willing to try anything at least once, she is a risk taker. She is naturally attractive. Straight.
