Are you interested in using theatre as a tool for social change? An experienced Applied Theatre practitioner from London. I'm new in Sydney and looking for partnership to start-up a new company which will offer to facilitate theatre projects at various communities, schools etc. I have produced, facilitated and directed successful theatre projects in London aimed at bringing social change! If you are enthusiastic about helping others by using devising and performing to raise and explore important issues and if you have relevant experience such as: facilitating, storytelling, improvising. Please get in touch to discuss further. gilaisjoy@hotmail.com

Social change

hh...good Q! The change can vary from place to place. I've done lots of work in Mental Health services challenging attitudes twds ppl with Mental Difficulties. The technique can be used for any issue really: identity, racism, gender, disabilities etc. The idea is to give marginalised groups an opportunity to express themselves!! This isn't exactly T.I.E, although has some things in common, but differs in that does not involve professional actors performing to schools about an issue with a pre-decided agenda. Is more about exploring a community and drawing material out of their own experiences. Therefore will involve improvising and storytelling techniques to expose and explore hidden issues.
