School Holiday Workshops
Thu, 3 Dec 2009, 12:51 pmJC Casting presents a 5-day comprehensive school holiday workshop for teens aged between 13 and 17, with Mattie Shisko - NIDA Graduate, and successful acting coach. Based in Canada, Mattie will be visiting Perth briefly to conduct these workshops in Acting Fundamentals, Audition Techniques, Monologues and much more. Jenni Cohen, local casting director currently working on the miniseries "Cloudstreet", will also run a session during the week. Dates are 11 - 15 January 2010, at the Subiaco Arts Centre.
For more information, please e-mail casting@jccasting.com.au with "Holiday Workshops" in the subject line and we will send you further information. Numbers are strictly limited and applications close on 21st December 2009.

Mattie Shisko (Porges)??
Some years ago when I was a student at KAFF Theatre Skills I remember a wonderful voice teacher who was trained at NIDA named Mattie Porges. It couldn't be the same Mattie by any chance?

Yes, the one and the same. She married a Canadian about 10 years ago and has lived there since.

Indeed it is! I remember
Indeed it is! I remember Mattie saying she was seeing a Canuck and was moving there, wasn't 100% sure though. Her workshops were a joy to do and I still use some of the warm up techniques. If they were good back in '97 they should be worthwhile in 2009 :)
