I don't know if anyone will have had experience with this but....I need to get liability insurance for our comedy troupe but haven't been having much luck. Anyone know of a specific insurance agency that deals with entertainers in a traveling troupe? Also- any marketing tips that you've used? My main focus is performing, writing & directing- all the management stuff is so difficult. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! Anita

Another Country

Hi Anita. Umm... as this is an Australian Community site, I am not too sure how much help we can be for you. With the rare exception, we don't get too many from the US here.

Long-haul travel.

That doesn't mean such things don't work similarly here as they do there. And vice-versa. Perhaps you are in Australia and this is here where you will be needing such insurance. Again, more details are needed so that we don't have to jump to conclusions. Cheers, Daniel M.

I have my own production

I have my own production company Primadonna Productions. I get straight forward public liability insurance for it through ACI broking, my premium comes under their Artists Actors Writers Scheme Insurance. Try emailing them on info@acibroking.com.au They are an Australian based mob, but thats not to say they don't have a US affiliation somewhere that could help you! Good luck!

Check out this site;-Insurance Program for AACT members  It is an Insurance Package from the 'American Community Theatre Association' - While I believe you need to be a member group, the Insurers would be able to give similar coverages.

Entertainment Insurance

Aon Risk Management specialise in entertainment insurance in Australia. Failing that, go through a broker and specifically request a package within your preferred price range. The overall price will depend upon the amount of liability you want, the type of work you present and the types of venues that you use - so it may be that you will have to tailor your work to reduce your insurance costs. There is an indecency in this, I agree, but this is often an indecent world.
