WAAPA Acting Audition
Sat, 7 Nov 2009, 11:25 amI have an audition next week for the WAAPA acting Diploma and would be verrry interested to know whether there is a set/limited space for the performance of the two monologues and whether props such as tables and chairs are supplied or allowed.
Thanks so much for any info!

waapa audition
Hi tahnee,
Where is your audition? Is it being held at WAAPA? if so, there will be a table/chair lying about for sure.
Tip though...avoid sitting behind a table. The panel want to see you. Dont get caught up in sets and props...just keep it simple and give them every opportunity to see you fully.
They will know within 10 seconds if they are interested - so be open and brave.

yes it's being held at WAAPA, well "ECU Building One".
yeah i was thinking that i would just use a simple chair, centre stage, for one part of one of my monologues.
also, do you know if i will be asked to perform an improvisation?
thanks for the inside knowledge haha

You wont be asked to
You wont be asked to improvise at this audition.
At the callbacks you may be asked to work in a group etc, but worry about that if you get through this first audition.
What pieces are you doing?

Good choices. Best of luck.
Good choices.
Best of luck. I cant stress how important it is to make a good impression as soon as you walk in the room. They want to see 'You' - the acting/character component is only half the journey. :-).
If you have any other questions feel free to ask.

By the way, does anybody
By the way, does anybody know if the monologues have to be performed in a set order (eg Shakespearean first) or if i am able to choose?
Walter PlingeMon, 9 Nov 2009, 02:20 pm
what monologue first ?
You will be able to perform whichever one you feel comfortable with first.
If they say they want to see a particular one first, politely request if you can do the one you feel best about first instead.
Bear in mind though, you may only get to do one piece. And they will sometimes request to see a piece that they are interested in seeing you do....so best to be prepared for both monologues equally.
