Hi, Do any of the community theatres out there have in their furniture store a hospital bed, or even a metal framed single bed with metal head and foot rails? I have seen them on stage in Perth, so they must be out there somewhere. Melville Theatre Company would dearly love to borrow one for one of our one act plays, which are in rehearsal now and open in early August. If anyone can help me or point me in the right direction, I would appreciate it. Cheers, Vanessa

Death's Dilemma had a hospital bed

Hey Vanessa

We used one for the Winter Warmers season at Melville last year. If you can work out where that one came from you may be able to chase it down again?

Regards

Julia

The Bed

Hi Julia and Vanessa,

I think David made that bed especially... You'll have to check with him what happened to it. Good luck! xoxo

I had no idea that art offered salvation from madness. I was of the opinion that most artists are, themselves, quite deranged.

I think we disassembled

I think we disassembled that bed and stored it under the stage. It is, however, a wooden bed. If you specifically want a metal bed, I can try and dig up my contact at Freo Hospital who kindly supplied the skeleton for Doctor in the House. www.meltheco.org.au

I've seen one used at

I've seen one used at Stirling, and also (I think) at Old Mill. Worth asking.

Yes, there was a genuine

Yes, there was a genuine hospital bed down at The Mill some time ago, but it isn't there now. Perhaps Norma will spot this post and let you know what happened to it and, more importantly, whether it can be located again and made available for loan.

Hospital bed

You could contact the Independent Living Centre of WA 9381 0600. They may have one you could borrow. They carry a range of hospital and medical equipment, beds etc. They are in The Niche on the Cnr of Hospital Ave & Aberdare Rd, Nedlands. If they don't have one, they may be able to point you in a direction where you may get one. Good luck.
