Actors and Makeup Artists Needed
Sat, 13 June 2009, 04:14 pmThis is an unusual request which may have exposure benefits for people involved. We are adept at getting media coverage.
We are holding a series of rolling protest marches in capital cities around Australia, beginning on June 22 in Canberra.
I wondered if you might consider sending this information to your client base, to let them know about the event in case they may want to participate?
According to Family Court of Australia's own statistics, more than 15,000 children are forced to have access visits with parents the Court has deemed violent and abusive. The new shared parenting laws presume that it is beneficial for all children to have contact with both parents, even if one is abusive.
As one grandmother has told us: "My two grand daughters have articulated to the court psychologist how they had to watch their father bash, spit on, drag around by the hair and kick with his steel toe boots and then the court said go sit at Relationships Australia and have a meaningful access visit !!!!!!!!!!
Any children involved in these cases can never be identified. Nor can the parents. This is why we need your help.
Our march to Parliament House in Canberra will involve parents disguised in bandages, with bruises, crutches, arms in slings, pushing dolls in prams. They can't bring their children to these rallies for legal reasons.
If you had any actor children, adults or makeup artists who may like to stand up and help children from homes where they have lived with domestic violence and are now forced to continue contact with a violent parent, we would love to hear from them.
We plan to hand research information to politicians about the effects of DV on children and other relevant material.
For our last rally many actors volunteered their time to participate in a series of Youtube videos we produced. See the link here: http://www.youtube.com/results?search_type=&search_query=barbbiggs&aq=f
The last rally had blanket media coverage in the states where the rallies were held - Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth. To see some of this coverage see www.saferfamilylaw.wordpress.com
If you would like to discuss this with me, my number is 0408 358 228.
Hoping you may be able to assist in some way.
