Anybody heard of Verve Studios? Was thinking about doing some short courses with them, but couldn't find any feedback on the web, so wanted to ask you kind folk... :) Anybody had any experience or done courses with them?

I've heard of them, but not really heard anything either way. Seem reputable to me, but then, I don't really pay much attention to actor's courses these days. As far as I remember, they used to run a free mailing list and featured feedback from their students in it. You could track the mailing list down and see if you can verify the feedback from that. Google it

Just did a Google Search and found quite a large number of actor profiles where they list work and training with Verge. The number of people and official sites that are apparently prepared to list this institute would indicate a good reputation.

I also note that after numerous pages of Google Results, there was not a single 'bad' review. Lots of third party promotion and much of it through unofficial channels - in other words unsolicited advertising. Again a good sign.

Let's talk people

I've done a weekend intensive at the VCA with Darren Natale who runs Verve and I worked with him as my drama coach when I was auditioning for drama schools. Lovely guy - professional, fun and down to earth (well as much as a theatrical type should be!) I also noticed that Jenny Lovell works for Verve among the many other ventures she has going. Gorgeous woman. Again, I did a weekend intensive with her at the VCA and have been directed by her. Both have a wide variety of skills to offer and really do know what they are talking about and what the industry wants. I have never done a course at Verve so I can't vouch for any of their courses or other trainers. I would guess that it is of a relatively high standard, knowing what I know of Darren and Jenny. If they are the kind of courses you are looking for, I'd say try them.

Hi There I am currently doing the 2009 PAS (Proffesional Actors Studio) course and have had many friends who have done the short courses. I would highly reccomend them. I am working with Darren and he is brilliant. He is in direct contact with the industry so if you want to get into the industry or be proffesionally trained to know what the industry wants i would definatley suggest doing a course :)
