I know that the ITA meeting is on beforehand, but if we could support this, it would be a great effort from community theatre. VICTORIAN BUSHFIRE APPEAL FUNDRAISER EMBERS BY CAMPION DECENT SUNDAY 15 FEBRUARY Perth Theatre Company and the Playhouse Theatre, with the support of BOCS Ticketing, present a special one‐off performance of Campion Decent's award‐winning play Embers this Sunday 15 February, to raise funds for the Victorian BushFire Appeal. All cast, creatives and technicians are donating their time to rehearse and present Embers; the Playhouse Theatre has been offered free of charge, venue staff will be working for free and Campion Decent has offered the rights to the play at no cost. Artistic Director Melissa Cantwell will direct a stellar cast, including James Beck, Reg Cribb, Siobhan Dow‐Hall, Michelle Fornasier, Peter Holland, Michael Loney, Caroline McKenzie, Greg McNeill and Sean Walsh. Members of the Perth community are invited to purchase a ticket for $15 to attend this one‐off performance. Further donations are welcome, all funds collected will be contributed directly to the Victorian BushFire Appeal. Embers was written by Decent in response to the 2003 Fires in Victoria’s north east and Gippsland. From exhaustive interviews with residents of the region, Campion fashioned an extraordinary account of the Fires; the heart‐stopping tales of survival, the awe‐inspiring courage and endurance of communities put to the test, the spine‐chilling evocations of the wave of heat that roars through pristine valleys. Gripping, lyrical, comically overwrought when it seems tragic, and deeply moving when all appears lost, Embers is the story of a Fire ‐ and the people who conquered it. Embers won the 2007 Queensland Premier’s Literary Award and will be presented by Sydney Theatre Company this year in a tour of south‐east Australia. “A toweringly important new Australian play that speaks to our hearts from the hearts of our countrymen.” The Daily Telegraph “The best things in this show, a great and emotionally powerful piece of investigative documentary theatre, are the traces it has of the people who were there.” The Australian SUNDAY 15 FEBRUARY, 6PM (DOORS OPEN 5PM) PLAYHOUSE THEATRE, 3 PIER STREET, PERTH TICKETS: $15, FROM BOCS TICKETING OUTLETS, ON 9484 1133, OR BOCSTICKETING.COM.AU

Sensibility. Loss of life

Sensibility. Loss of life is sad and these people need our help. Our financial help, no less. But let's remember that a lot of these people moved to these communities to get away from the city. To get away from people like you and me, Grant. They had the money to do so and certainly their bank balances havn't burnt down. $85 million is plenty for these people. Trust me.
